A. "God, the Father of mercies, through the death and resurrection of his Son has reconciled the world to himself and sent the Holy Spirit among us for the forgiveness of sins; through the ministry of the Church may God give you pardon and peace, and I absolve you from your sins in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen." If it's for a test you could have tried a little harder. Next time try this website: www.google.com

Is it arrogant to believe that you can seek redemption/absolution for your wrong doings?
Q. In other words. Don't you think it's a unacceptable to believe that it's ok to do wrong by another as long as a deity (according to you belief) says its ok? It sounds so arrogant. Your thoughts.

A. Arrogant, immature, selfish. "I can do what ever I want cause my god will forgive me" nah nah nanh na " my god's better than your god" NO. Not ok. Will there ever come a day when people are able to accept responsibility for their own actions and simply do the right thing?

Is it true that if you dont confess all your sins through confession you dont receive absolution?
Q. like, if you omit 2 or 3 that you did not remember ar the time or saying them with no detail?
Asked by MC - Fri Feb 26 11:20:47 2010 - - 10 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Not true. The priest absolves you through the power of Christ of all your sins, even the ones you have forgotten. I was taugh to say "I am sorry for these and all the sins I committed" after I confessed the ones I remembered. It's not necessary to say, but it might give your mind some more ease.

Do sacraments like communion, holy water, and absolution have any more power than what we ascribe to the?
Q. Is there any real power in the use of sacraments. Many Churches, such as Anglican, Roman Catholic, and Orthodox use these. Do they have any real powers beyond what we ascribe them to have? Or are they just idols?

A. well, they're definitely not idols, you don't worship them and you don't pray to them, i know, i'm orthodox. anyway, they do have a lot of power though, spiritual power, for example, whenever i come from communion i feel so pure and clean, and especially after i eat and drink the flesh and blood of jesus christ, it's just so amazingly peaceful, and just being in church and having the priest asking you your name and really the entire ritual is almost out of this world. and holy water too, we always have some around the house, and we drink from it every morning. not to mention the fact that it stays fresh, unlike normal water. we get some every year on saint john the baptist day, and even a year later in still has the same properties, it… [cont.]

Catholic homosexuals? Is there a standard penance for gaining absolution?
Q. Like how many Hail Mary's for homosexual sex? Just curious as one can commit other sins like adultery or sex out of marriage and confess. Or do you not confess that you are a homosexual? Thanks.
Asked by Noko - Sun Apr 12 20:13:53 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The Catholic Church does not have a rule book that doles out a certain number of Hail Marys or Our Fathers for a certain sin. Firstly, the Church believes that being homosexual (simply being attracted to the same sex) is not a sin. It is a sin to act upon those feelings. It is a priest's personal opinion that would determine what a person's penance would be for a certain situation. The Church feels very strongly about homosexual acts, and I believe that a priest would act accordingly. If you have not committed a homosexual act, but you do consider yourself to be homosexual, you do not have to confess anything, as you have not committed a sin. But if an act has occurred, it should be admitted in Reconciliation. I am not experienced in this… [cont.]

A. There are no scriptures. The pope-pee and his merry mens believe they can wave their hands in Catholic incantations to relieve a dying mens sin. But those mens need to send the pope-pee and his merry mens packing. He needs to face God for forgiveness. A. Of course not! Being forgiven of sin is between God and man. A sex offender who attacks children is usually a victim of abuse himself or is otherwise disturbed. The recivity rate for those guys is near 100%. So, yes God can and will forgive them and no they should not be trusted around children. BS question BTW...

A. It's a remission and forgiveness of all sins of all citizens of the Holy City, and by extension the world. I don't believe it's actually an absolution, just a way of saying "the Church won't punish you for your most recent sins, this time". But, I'm not Catholic, so I could be way wrong about that.
