You are referring to the tension adjustment that allows you to cast different weights of lures without back lashing. To adjust this you need to tie on a lure you will be using and hod the rod out and level with the ground. Hit the thumbar and and the lure should slowly fall to the ground and the spool should not create an over run of line when the lure hits the ground. If it falls too fast an over run will be created . You need to tighten the tension until it is adjusted correctly. If i doesn't fall at all you need to loosen it up just slightly. And you are correct.If the spool tension is too tight it will not cast far at all.If it is too loose it will back lash every cast. If you hate it, change it. Think about good things more, and concentrate on them happening rather than focusing on what is negative. Just fill your mind with these good images and make them glow. Whenever you feel yourself slipping into your previous negative behaviour, remind yourself that is no longer your reality, you have chosen to react in a different way to things, and notice how everything suddenly seems a little easier, now you feel lighter.
