Can I take the adjustment on my taxes for jury duty pay given to employer?
Q. I served on a jury in Dec. 2006 and was paid by my employer at the time. I later turned over the jury duty pay to my employer, however, this occurred in 2007 (when I received the paperwork from the state). Can I take the adjustment for Line 34 on Form 1040 for the 2006 tax year? To clarify, I did receive a tax form from the state for the jury duty pay for the year 2006. I know I therefore need to claim that as income on my 2006 taxes. I gave the $ back to my employer (i.e., they deducted the amount from my next paycheck). They did not take the $ out of my check until 2007. So I claim they money from the state as income in 2006 and then take an adjustment (Line 34) for the same amount next year? bold4bs: I am asking for an adjustment… [cont.]

A. No this is taken as an adjustment to income for 2007, as it was received in Jan 2007 Update,, claim the jury pay as income in 2006 and take the adjustment on the 2007 return (next filing season) make sure to save the check stub for the pay period that the funds were deducted from and the 1099 you received for the jury duty pay for next years return

What is the hardest adjustment you have to make when becoming an NCO?
Q. Since being in the Air Force I never had any close friends that were in the airman tier. Now as a NCO the last few months I have been dealing with a lot of new concepts and points of view. What from your experience would be the hardest adjustment you had to make after becoming an NCO?
Asked by Patrick W - Thu Jun 17 06:07:44 2010 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. For me, it was telling my friends that I worked with what to do. Usually, they understand, and it's not a problem. But it took a little time to get over this part on my end. It just didn't feel right. And if you don't, then you get in trouble. But on the plus side, if you handle this correctly, you will get a lot more respect from those under you than those that don't learn how to handle this.

How do I determine correct dioptric adjustment lens to use?
Q. I am "near sighted" and do not like to wear glasses when using SLR camera, but without them cannot see good focus. I am told the dioptric adjustment lens can be used at viewfinder to correct this, but not sure which power is correct for me.

A. If I'm not mistaken, use a diopter lens that matches your glasses perscription as much as possible. Many dSLRs have (or you can buy) adjustable diopters that you dial in to your preference. To set this put your camera on a tripod and focus on a subject using the autofocus (if you have AF) or focus with your glasses on if you have MF. Then look through the viewfinder with your glasses off and turn the diopter wheel until you see the image in focus through the viewfinder. If you bring your camera with you to the camera store I'm betting they will let you try a couple different diopters to make sure that you get the right one. Another option for you is to buy an "eye cup" for your camera that makes it much easier to wear glasses while… [cont.]

Is there any adjustment to keep the power take off from slipping?
Q. I have a cub cadet 7275 small tractor. When I use the PTO it makes a rachet sound and slips. It sounds like the gears are not engaging good. I hope there is an adjustment I can make without major repair. If you have an idea I would really appreciate it.
Asked by dakoda - Thu Jan 11 17:41:25 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It sounds like a simple adjustment. You should be able to purchase a repair manual for your tractor. When you engage the PTO, what is your throttle set at? Your throttle should be low when you engage it, then throttle it up once engaged. It is common for PTO's to slip, squeal, etc if they are engaged when it is throttle up. You should also throttle down before disengaging it as well.

When the price adjustment concerned, does it matter it is a sale price or a promotion price?
Q. I bought a lot of stuff at an Ann Taylor store on Sunday. Today, I found that they offer addition 30% off. I went to the store and asked for a price adjustment, but the sales guy told me that he couldn't do the adjustment because what they have is a promotion, but not a sale. Does anybody know whether they distinguish between that when it comes to a price adjustment? Thanks.
Asked by Tea - Fri Jan 4 13:27:24 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I would rebuy the items at 30% off and take the other items back on the full price receipt. If you have worn anything just take the new item back and use your first receipt on it. If that is their policy I doubt they will give you an adjustment.

How do you make adjustment for depreciation of asset?
Q. Could someone please help? This is for a computerized financial accounting. And I am completely lost. On July 1 delivery equipment was purchased for 4320.00. The equipment has an estimated useful life of 3 years (36 months) and no salvage value. Using the straight-line method, analyze the necessary adjusting entry as of 31 July (one month) using T accounts and then formally enter this adjustment in the general journal.

In Accounting when doing Adjustments where would you add an adjustment for Utilities Expense?
Q. I have an adjustment to add on to the Work Sheet for Utilities. It is stated like this " The June utilities expense of $550 is not included in the unadjusted trial balance because the bill arrived after the trial balance was prepared. The $550 amount owed needs to be recorded". I just don't know where to record it and how to add it to the Adjustments. I want to thank anyone who can help me ahead of time. Any and all help is very much appreciated. I know that on the adjustments you place it in the debit side of the untilities expense, but what account gets the credit?

A. I'll clear this up for you. Wage is an expense. Correct? If you were doing adjustments at the end of a period, you would want the wage expense to show in the period where it was incurred. You would record the portion that is accrued wage. Let's say the total wage is 500. and 300. is accrued and relates to the current period. You would make an adjustment as follows: dr wage expense 300. cr wage payable 300. Now, your utilities: In order for the utilities expense to show in the period in which it was incurred 550. needs to be included in the adjustments as follows: dr utilities expense 550. cr utilities payable 550. Now the adjusted trial balance will show the utilities expense in the correct period and it will be carried to the… [cont.]

Can you get a price adjustment if your airline ticket goes on sale after you purchase it?
Q. I am planning on purchasing an ticket to Austin, Tx from Grand Rapids for St. Patty's weekend. I have seen some tickets that run $255 on Yahoo Travels for this weekend. If I purchase a ticket then it goes on sale, can I get a price adjustment for the difference if the fare goes on sale? Does anyone have any tips on finding cheap airline tickets? Grand Rapids is does not have a BIG HUB where lots of airlines fly out...Thanks for anyone who can give me any tips!!!

A. It depends on the airline. Airtran will. If you see a lower price for the same flight, they'll put the difference between what you paid and what the flight is currently selling for into a credit file thats good up to a year from the date of purchase. This is only available if the sale price is directly from Airtran, they won't price match a lower fare from a travel agency or travelocity etc. Not all airlines do this, but its worth a try. Call reservations.

A. On a k-1 visa, you must apply for adjustment of status before your visa expires. Visa expires 90 days after you entered the U.S. Unfortunately their is no renewal option on k-1 visa's. If your visa is expired you will need to apply from outside the U.S. using form I-130 petition for Alien Relative. I would suggest you check with an attorney if indeed your visa is expired.

Asked by postmall32 - Mon May 1 00:48:02 2006 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Sounds very complicated. Probably an assumption that your costs and incomes will need to adjust for inflation and you need to determine what new prices you have to demand in order to maintain a profit. The assumption, of course, would be how much inflation you could expect. Feh. Good luck on that. Anyhow, sounds like a college homework problem... Good luck on exams!

What is the cable next to the accelerator adjustment cable on a 1992 Nissan 300zx?
Q. I have a 1992 Nissan 300ZX it is not a TT or 2+2...if you are looking at the engine, on top are two adjustment cables. I know the far right is the accelerator cable but is the one on the left the idle adjustment cable? also is it best to have the accelerator cable as tight as it can go without have it pull on the switch or just a little loose?
Asked by asa e - Wed Oct 29 23:18:42 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. On most cars, that 2nd cable is for the cruise control if it has a 2nd cable right next to the throttle cable. As for your other Q, most of the time the throttle cable has a tiny bit of slack in it (it's not loose by any means, but it's not normally as tight as a banjo-string unless the gas pedal is depressed from inside the car). There's probably no need to tighten it unless there's an abnormally large amount of slack (like if nothing happens when you initially press the gas pedal in the car...otherwise it's probably just fine as it is.).

I know the far right is the accelerator cable but is the one on the left the idle adjustment cable? also is it best to have the accelerator cable as tight as it can go without have it pull on the switch or just a little loose?

Is it okay to file my adjustment status 9 months after my entry?
Q. My K3 will expire in 2011 and as much as we want to file my adjustment of status (AOS) right away, we can't due to our unstable finances this year. We even had to file for tax extension. The AOS fee isn't cheap and we'll save up for it after we're done with our taxes. Is 9 months too long for filing though? Will it affect the decision for my Green Card? Thanks!

A. No, it will not affect the decision for your green card since you have 2years allowance to file for AOS.Just continue gathering documents that you will need to include when you file for AOS.You might be required to do another medical though since the one you did during the K-3 process is only good for one year.Good luck.

What is the amount of MOA adjustment on the Bushnell 4200 Elite series?
Q. I read somewhere that there was only room for 20 MOA of adjustment as far as elevation goes. Do you know if this is true, or what it is? Thanks.

A. Per Bushnell's web site, it will depend on which scope you have, one has a total of 26 and the other has 50. If yours has 50 inches of adjustment at 100 yards which would equal (1 MOA = 1.047" at 100 yards) 47.75 MOA of adjustment. If you are using a 0 base then you would have roughly 23 MOA available as the adjustments would be near the middle of their adjustable range. If you need more MOA you can buy a canted base with extra MOA built into it. Depending on what caliber you shoot and your bullets ballistic coefficient you should have enough adjustment range to reach 600 yards. The .308 I shoot and load for uses near 15moa @ 600 for a 178 a max moving along at 2700 fps.
