From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Forgiveness is typically defined as the process of concluding resentment, indignation or anger as a result of a perceived offense, difference or mistake, and/or ceasing to demand punishment or restitution. The Oxford English Dictionary defines forgiveness as 'to grant free pardon and to give up all claim on account of an offense or debt'. The concept and benefits of forgiveness have been explored in religious thought, the social sciences and medicine. Forgiveness may be considered simply in terms of the person who forgives including forgiving themselves, in terms of the person forgiven and/or in terms of the relationship between the forgiver and the person forgiven. In some contexts, forgiveness may be granted without any expectation of restorative justice, and without any response on the part of the offender (for example, one may forgive a person who is incommunicado or dead). In practical terms, it may be necessary for the offender to offer some form of acknowledgment, apology, and/or restitution, or even just ask for forgiveness, in order for the wronged person to believe himself able to forgive. Most world religions include teachings on the nature of forgiveness, and many of these teachings provide an underlying basis for many varying modern day traditions and practices of forgiveness. Some religious doctrines or philosophies place greater emphasis on the need for humans to find some sort of divine forgiveness for their own shortcomings, others place greater emphasis on the need for humans to practice forgiveness of one another, yet others make little or no distinction between human and/or divine forgiveness. Hi My ABC...Lets see what God says about Forgiveness. First you will need to read the whole chapter of the 6th of Matthew. That has alot to say about forgiveness. We live in such a sinful state in our minds, and trying not to do this, but unfortunately,we still do...to forgive, is a gift from God.We cannot do this on our own power, that's why we need to ask Our Father in heaven in Christs name to give us the power to forgive. Its not an easy task but it is possible. To look on someone else to see if there forgiveness is genuine is not for us to judge. It is possible that some people find it difficult to forgive others because they themselves have never received forgiveness. I remember how I felt when the Holy Spirit led me to a place of repentance and forgiveness, and the joy, the relief and the freedom that came the moment I gave myself to Christ Jesus. Since then, I have found it easier to forgive others although I aware that I am often prompted by what Jesus said about the extent to which we forgive others is the extent to which we can expect to receive forgiveness. It's a wonderful gift to forgive - and to be forgiven. Who was it who said: To err is human, to forgive is divine? Answered by Grey Tower - Sun Jan 3 06:37:56 2010 How easy is it to forgive others?

Well it is often easy to forgive someone on the spot, as soon as they do something bad to you! but sometimes it may get a bit complicated and might be harder! but as muslims we should forgive and do good to those who have done bad to us! Once prophet mohammad(pbuh) had an old neighbor who would throw garbage in front of the prophet's house everyday. he tried asking him to stop, but that did not help, so the prophet started picking up the garbage after him every single day! then one day there was no garbage, so the prophet was worried that something bad happened to his neighbor, so he sent somebody to check up on him and make sure that he is okay! he also sent him a basket full of fruits as a gift! so please try your best to forgive and… [cont.] Answered by person - Mon Sep 8 08:03:13 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "forgive" Cleveland will not do a sign-and-trade to send LeBron away.
