A Society or a human society is a group of people related to each other through persistent relations such as social status, roles and social networks. Human societies are characterized by patterns of relationships between individuals sharing a distinctive culture and institutions. Without an article, the term refers either to the entirety of humanity or a contextually implicit subset.

Used in the sense of an association, a society is a body of individuals outlined by the bounds of functional interdependence, possibly comprising characteristics such as national or cultural identity, social solidarity, language or hierarchical organization. Like other groupings, a society allows its members to achieve needs or wishes they could not fulfill alone. independent of, and utterly irreducible to, the qualities of constituent individuals; it may act to oppress. The urbanization and rationalization inherent in some, particularly Western capitalist, societies, has been associated with feelings of isolation and social "anomie".

More broadly, a society is an economic, social or industrial infrastructure, made up of a varied collection of individuals. Members of a society may be from different ethnic groups. A society may be a particular ethnic group, such as the Saxons; a nation state, such as Bhutan; a broader cultural group, such as a Western society. The word society may also refer to an organized voluntary association of people for religious, benevolent, cultural, scientific, political, patriotic, or other purposes. A "society" may even, though more by means of metaphor, refer to a social organism such as an ant colony.

A. It would be horrible. I know people say thats how it is but it is not, i help people all the time and just this week this is what has happened to me. I left my lights on and had to get a jump...no charge Stranger helped me carry at 80 pound bag of dog food to the car...no charge Coming out of the store parking lot waited 20 minutes, a car slowed down and let me in... We do little things all the time to help people. If we did not the world would be a sad place imagine asking an old lady for a dollar before you held the door open for her? Or charging for letting someone with one item go ahead of you at the store? We would all walk around with cards around our neck stating what we charged for each service and people would be in our face… [cont.]

How does society s responses to deviance restore and disrupt social order?
Q. To what extent does society respond to deviances and how it restores and disrupts social order? Thanks! :)
Asked by ~Stabbing the Drama~ - Wed Oct 22 19:57:02 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. depends on how you define deviance i guess :) are you defining it morally, religiously, or purely from a criminal justice perspective? depending on the definitions and the era in society you are concentrating on, one man's deviancy is another man's employment :) political implications may also depend on whether such 'deviancy' disrupts or restores social order - example, 'moral outrage'! hope this helps

How does society change when so many have their lives threatened?
Q. Whether citizen, or soldier, millions upon millions of people have had someone try to kill them. How does a society evolve when people live with the fear that someone tried to kill them, and might succeed?

A. Actually Evolution is driven by who dies. If things weren't trying to kill us, there would be no need to form Societies. The threat of death make Society more cohesive. E.g. After 9/11 there was a period where petty disputes were put aside.
